commute times

It is still monsoon season here, but the rain comes and goes fairly quickly.  It was pouring yesterday morning as we left for work.  The streets were flooded and people were walking around barefoot in it!  It looked terrible so I wore my rainboots and brought my umbrella…but after about 45 minutes…the sun was shining and the streets were dry.  So once we got to work, I put tennis shoes on and it didn’t rain at all for the rest of the day.

We left work a bit earlier than normal and the drive took THREE hours!!! It was horrible, I’m getting used to the two hour commute each way but three is way too much on these roads.  That first car ride when I get back to the States is going to be amazing, I will not complain about traffic anymore!  Not that I did that much, but still.

Here are a few pictures from the commute this morning:

We drive through villages on the way to the Industrial Park…it’s hard to see in this picture, but there are little boys bathing/playing in the water, as a woman washes some clothing.

  1. Hot day sucks a big time in Bangladesh. I personally do like rain but here you see rain has its disadvantages, too. 😦 So I guess nothing is like sleeping in the bedroom. 😀

  2. By the way, your About page says you are from California and you studied in San Francisco. Well then what are you doing here in Bangladesh (if that’s right)? 😕

    1. Yep, I just got here 3 weeks ago from California…I am a fashion design intern for Beximco…I recently graduated from college and am just trying to get as much experience/work as I can. I wouldn’t get to see this side of fashion in the US so thought it was a good opportunity to come here!
