ending 2011

This year has been a big one for me.  I graduated from college, had my first “real job” interview, got to fly to two different places on someone else’s bill, got to live in one of the poorest countries in the world, and got to see and experience some of Asia.  I used my passport for the first time, and got to add a few stamps to it.  I think I can say that after living in Bangladesh…I am prepped to live anywhere in the world.  Who knows…maybe I will get a chance to live abroad again.  I’ve grown up more this year, and right now I don’t really feel that way…but I know it’s true.

I had a dream this morning.  Not a nightmare, but it wasn’t good.  I’m hoping that I’ll soon forget it.  In it, I was facing feelings that I haven’t dealt with since before I left the country.  Bangladesh was a blessing in multiple ways for me…I needed an escape.  I have moved past those feelings but in the dream I was feeling everything again except it was pushed to the extreme…the dream ended with me bawling my eyes out.  Well, 2012 isn’t going to be like that…maybe my subconscious is just reminding me of what I’ve left behind.

In real life news…a couple days ago I went to Mono Lake and Yosemite with my friend Bruce.  I’ve been wanting to go to Mono Lake for years so it was great to finally get to go. Supposedly big foot lives out there…yeah, I don’t believe in big foot…but we did come across like 10 dead birds which was really weird.  There isn’t much snow in the mountains right now, but luckily in Yosemite we found some!  I wanted to build a snowman but the snow wasn’t cooperating.  I made a snow angel though…and we came across a snowman that someone had already built.  We also played around on a frozen river and again on a lake.  That was awesome…and I wasn’t the one who fell down…I’m super clumsy, but I think he may be more so than me!  After that we just drove through the valley and saw Half Dome, and then headed home.
