adventure #6: old los angeles zoo

There are two zoos located in Griffith Park…one is full of animals and all the typical things you expect at a zoo, the second is in ruins and empty.  The old zoo was open from 1912 – 1965…until it was replaced with the now Los Angeles Zoo.  Instead of tearing everything down, they left the cages in place and turned it into a picnic area.

I went early in the morning and crossed paths with just a few joggers & a filming crew.  It’s an interesting piece of LA history that’s easy to access and worth the trip if you’re around the area.

Griffith Park has great views of the city as well, don’t forget to take advantage of that if you go!
