hearst castle

For Memorial Day weekend, my mom and I spent three days on the San Simeon coast.  We stayed in Cambria and ate/shopped/explored the cute downtown area.  We visited Moonstone Beach & hunted for cool rocks/driftwood.  We also took a kayaking tour in the ocean.  The reason we met in this area though, was to go to Hearst Castle.  We took the upstairs tour which included bedrooms, the library, & Hearst’s study.  Afterward we walked the grounds, and got to see the pools.  Unfortunately the Neptune pool was drained because there are cracks at the bottom.  The tour was interesting and we got to learn about William Hearst’s upbringing and how the castle came to be.
